BUENOS AIRES, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Tomas Molina scored twice as Argentinos Juniors moved to the top of Argentina's Primera Division Group A standings on Friday with a 4-0 home victory over Estudiantes.
The hosts took the lead when Molina brilliantly controlled Roman Vega's pass before spinning away from his marker and shooting into the near corner.
Molina doubled his side's lead a minute later by intercepting an errant pass and rounding goalkeeper Matias Mansilla before coolly slotting his shot into an unguarded net.
Alan Lescano made it 3-0 with a superb 18-yard volley into the bottom-right corner after Sebastian Preto's cross.
Argentinos Juniors applied relentless pressure and Jose Herrera completed the rout with a 30-yard drive that left a flat-footed Mansilla with no chance.
The result leaves the Buenos Aires outfit with 33 points from 16 outings, a point ahead of Boca Juniors, which has a game in hand. Estudiantes is eighth in the 15-team group, 12 points off the pace.
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Friday, Racing won 1-0 at home to Newell's Old Boys, Independiente edged to a 3-2 home victory over Defensa y Justicia, Banfield prevailed 3-1 at home to Central Cordoba and Union was held to a 1-1 home draw by Belgrano. ■
