BUENOS AIRES, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Pablo Guinazu stepped down as manager of Talleres Cordoba on Saturday after only a month in charge of the Argentine Primera Division club.
Guinazu made the announcement following his team's 2-1 home defeat to local rival Instituto in the final matchday of Argentina's Primera Division Apertura regular season.
The result left Talleres outside of the playoff places, five points shy of Instituto, which secured the last available round-of-16 spot in Group B.
"I accept the blame. As a man, it's up to me to be responsible," Guinazu told a post-match press conference. "I'm stepping aside. It pains me to the core that I wasn't able to help."
Guinazu, a former midfielder who was capped 16 times for Argentina's national team, guided Talleres to one win, one draw and five losses after replacing Alexander Medina on April 3. ■
